Location
Located in the heart of Ireland, we are surrounded by lakes, woodlands and megalithic tombs. Lough Sheelin is an internationally acclaimed trout lake and provides some great fishing. Trails around the shore lead up to Crover House hotel, bar and restaurant. The Hotel also hosts a 9 hole golf course.
Views
Heading in the other direction and still overlooking Lough Sheelin, Mullaghmeen forest park, covering over 1,000 acres is the largest deciduous forest in Western Europe. The megalithic tombs, just outside Oldcastle, provide you with 360-degree views from the highest point in the Boyne valley. There is also a coffee shop at the bottom of the trail. Lough crew estate gardens are located just on the other side of the hill.
Background
Sheelin Shepherds Huts were built by myself, (Gary Strong) on our family farm. The farm is many generations old, with the main dwelling house being 300 years old. For the past 30 years, we have been in milk production for Glanbia with most of the milk going towards Bailey’s Cream Liqueur. Currently, there are 100 cows grazing happily within view.
